2026 Boys LWSC Rules

US Boys Rules

All players must be born on or after 7/4/2012 for the 13U division. Birth Certificate or Passport submission will be required by each player via Player Authenticate

 

All players must reside within 100 miles as the crow flies of the home field/HQ of their program for the North and East Qualifiers

 

All players must reside within 150 miles as the crow flies of the home field/HQ of their program for the Central, South, and West Qualifiers

 

Players will be required to submit a proof of residency via parents drivers license or utility bill to confirm primary address

 

All players must live at the submitted address at the start of the calendar year

 

Prep school students must submit the primary address of their primary parent/guardian in order to be eligible

 

Seconday home addresses will not be considered a valid address

 

Primary address is considered the address that is lived in for the majority of the year and where taxes are filed

 

Home field/HQ address must be approved by the LWSC before verification invites are sent

 

One off/All Star teams are not allowed to participate in the LWSC. All teams must be part of an established competitive club

 

Final decisions on what constitutes a competitive club is at the discretion of the LWSC

 

All prospective teams are subject to interview before particpating in the LWSC

 

Clubs are able to host a tryout to form their teams and select players as long as they are not current members with another program participating in the LWSC

 

Partnerships or alliances between two or more clubs to create a team is not permitted

 

All roster eligibility rules will be enforced at the discretion of the Lacrosse World Series Championship

 

No double rostering is allowed

 

Roster size will be capped at 30 total players with a max of 28 field players and minimum of 2 goalies at all times

 

Both goalies do not have to physically participate in the Regional Qualifier but both need to regularly play within your club or organization and will be held to the same roster eligibility standards as other players

 

The only permitted roster modification after submission of the final roster will be the replacement of an injured goalie with another goalie pending a written request and approval

 

Copies of birth certificates and proof of residency and waiver forms must be submitted prior to participating in a regional qualifier

 

Any team in violation of the above roster rules will forfeit all games in which the ineligible player has participated plus forfeit any opportunity to advance to the playoffs and forfeit any accolades or titles received by the team

 

Any team that forfeits a game during the tournament will be ineligible to advance to the playoffs.

Canada Boys Rules

All players must be born on or after 7/4/2012 for the 13U division. Birth certificate submission will be required by each player

 

No player may compete or be rostered on more than one team during the tournament

 

All players must reside within 200 miles of the home field of their program

 

All players must compete with their team on a regular basis

 

Roster size will be capped at 30 total players with a max of 28 field players and minimum of 2 goalies at all times. Total roster size can not exceed 30 players

 

The only permitted roster modification after submission of the final roster will be the replacement of an injured goalie with another goalie pending a written request and approval

 

All players will be required to provide a copy of their birth certificate and/or passport, proof of residency/citizenship (report card,school identification card, or passport) and verification of health insurance that is accepted in the United States

 

Any team in violation of the above roster rules will forfeit all games in which the ineligible player has participated plus forfeit any opportunity to advance to the playoffs and forfeit any accolades or titles received by the team

 

Any team that forfeits a game during the tournament will be ineligible to advance to the playoffs

Boys International Rules

Regional Qualifier Rules

All rules will be in accordance with current NCAA standards unless otherwise noted.

 

Before each team’s first games roster verification will be required

 

A tournament official will check each team’s roster making sure name and birthdate are correct

 

Roster size will be capped at 30 total players with a max of 28 field players

 

No double rostering is allowed

 

Players can only compete on one team

 

Each team will be allowed to have four coaches on the sideline

 

Games will be 4-10 minute running quarters

 

Games will start on time regardless if a team is ready or not. The clock will start

 

Each team will receive one 45 second timeout each half

 

Timeouts will not carry over to the next half

 

The clock and penalty time will stop for timeouts

 

Penalties are time and a half

 

When the ball is dead, either a head coach or a player on the field may call a timeout

 

During live play, team timeouts may be called from anywhere on the field only by a member of a team in possession or by that team’s head coach

 

Games with goal differential of two or less will have stop time the last two minutes of the game

 

If goal differential is four or less, the team with the lead must keep the ball in the box in the last two minutes

 

All games ending in a tie will go into a four minute sudden victory overtime period

 

Teams will start at the opposite sideline from where they finished the game

 

If no goals are scored after the first four minute OT an additional four minute OT will begin

 

A one minute break will ensue

 

Teams will have one 45 second timeout per four minute overtime period

 

If no goals are scored in OT, teams will play a 3v3 plus goalie braveheart

 

One player (typically goalie) must stay back on defense

 

Only one long pole allowed on the field during braveheart

 

No timeouts are allowed in braveheart

 

No substitutions allowed unless there is an injured player

 

Sticks must meet NCAA or NFHS standards

 

Stick checks will not be mandatory by the officials

 

Coaches can request a stick check at any time

 

If the stick is found to be illegal the appropriate penalty will be assessed

 

A timeout will be deducted if the stick is found to be legal

 

One handed sticks checks are legal

 

If no timeouts remain then a 30 second technical foul will be assessed

 

Any player fan or coach ejected from a game will be prohibited from competing in/coaching/watching his/her team’s next game

 

If a player/coach/fan is ejected for a second time he/she will be disqualified from the tournament

 

Fighting is an automatic ejection from the game

 

Noise makers are not allowed at any time (horns,whistles,sirens,cowbells, etc.) Offenders will be asked to leave the field

 

Forfeits will be considered a 1-0 victory for the team that is prepared to play

 

The forfeiting team will be ineligible to advance to the playoffs

 

Advancing the Ball into the Attack Area: 20 seconds to advance the ball over the midline-10 seconds to advance into the goal area

 

The officials will enforce this rule using their timing devices

 

2018 NCAA Rules will be in effect regarding “Goal Crease Prohibitions” (no crease dives permitted)

 

NCAA & Federation 2022 Face Off rules will be utilized. (motorcycle grip not allowed players must stand for the faceoff position)

 

Substitution Box will be 10 yards in accordance with the 2019 NCAA rules

 

All rules are at the event directors’ discretion

 

Tie Breakers will be as follows

Within Pools: Record, Head to Head, Goals Allowed, Goal Differential, Goals Scored, Coin Flip

Tie Breakers within Divisions: TBD determined on overall team participation

 

Max score differential per game will be capped at 10 goals

Championship Event Rules

Games will be 4-11 minute running periods with 2 minute intermissions and 5 minute halftime. Games will start on time

 

Each team will receive one 45 timeout each half

 

Timeouts will not carry over to the next half

 

The clock and penalty time will stop for timeouts

 

When the ball is dead, either a head coach or a player on the field may call a timeout

 

During live play, team timeouts may be called from anywhere on the field only by a member of a team in possession or by that team’s head coach

 

Timeouts can only be called with possession or during a dead ball

 

Penalities are time and half (45 and 90 seconds)

 

20 seconds to advance the ball over the midline-10 seconds to advance into the goal area

 

Games with goal differential of two or less will have stop time in the last two minutes of the game

 

If goal differential is four or less, the team with the lead must keep the ball in the box the last two minutes

 

One handed stick checks are legal

 

All games ending in a tie will go into a eight minute sudden victory overtime period

 

Teams will start at the opposite sideline from where they finished the games. If no goals are scored after the eight minutes a one minute break will ensue and teams will change ends

 

Teams will have one timeout per eight minute overtime period

 

Sticks must meet NCAA or NFHS standards

 

Stick checks will not be mandatory by the officials

 

Coaches can request a stick check at any time

 

If the stick is found to be illegal, the appropriate penalty will be assessed. A timeout will be deducted if the stick is found to be legal. If no timeouts remain, then a 30 second technical foul will be assessed

Quick Start: Refs will ignore the positioning of defensive players and allow for a restart to begin with a defensive player within 5 yards. The defensive player within 5 yards must allow for an open lane to the goal and not defend the player until the restarting player creates a 5-yard gap. A violation will be a flag down (slow whistle) for delay of game

 

Tie Breakers will be as follows,Within Pools: Record, Head to Head, Goals Allowed, Goal Differential, Goals Scored, Coin Flip
