Team Bio

ECLIPSE 2028 BLACK

Founded in 2013, Eclipse Lacrosse Club is the leading lacrosse development program in Connecticut. Over the past ten years, Eclipse has attracted top players from across the state to create teams that can successfully compete at the national level. The Eclipse 2028 Black team is proud to represent the Eclipse program at this year’s Lacrosse World Series Championship.

This year’s team is a throwback to an earlier era of lacrosse with its a wide-open style of play. The team is paced by an ultra-aggressive defense that is encouraged to take risks all over the field. This sets the stage for an unselfish offense that thrives on transition, speed, and unsettled play. All 9 players on the field have the “green light” to create at any time. Our underlying philosophy is to remove the guardrails and let this team just play the game. If they believe in themselves, we believe in them.

Individually, the team features some of the most skilled “takeaway defensemen” in the class of 2028. As adept as they are defensively, this unit is equally as dangerous as initiators on offense with their long poles. The goalie play on the team is very solid with two excellent ball-stoppers that also excel in the clearing game. The Midfield is rangy, fast, and deep. All 10 players will bring it hard when their number is called. The attack includes a good mix of dodgers, crafty off-ball players, and powerful finishers. The offensive group is high IQ and quick to capitalize on any unsettled situations.

The team trains year-round, while encouraging their players to represent Eclipse within their town programs in the Spring. Eclipse takes great pride in our boys being leaders and significant performers on their town teams. There are ten towns represented in this year’s roster – Darien, New Canaan, Wilton, Westport, Cheshire and Hamden from Connecticut. Along with our New York representation from Chappaqua, Rye, Pleasantville and Bronxville.

The team is led by four coaches. Jay Davenport (HC), Matt Bidgood (Asst), Will Koshansky (Asst), and Jamie Hanford (Asst). Coaches Hanford and Koshansky are also owners/directors of the Eclipse Lacrosse Club.
