We are so excited and honored to have 21 families from across Florida come together to support the Owen’s Heroes Charity Lacrosse team at the World Series Lacrosse Championship. All the young men on this team are taking this opportunity to play the game they love, all for a cause that can truly make a difference.

Owen’s Heroes is a charity started by one of the player’s parents in 2020 to raise money and awareness for Children with Type 1 Diabetes, for which there is no cure. The charity is named for their son, Owen Eriksen, who was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at just 15 months old back in 2018. He is 6 now and doing great, but like all diabetics, he must have his blood-sugar levels constantly monitored, insulin manually administered with daily needle sticks and pumps, and meals tightly balanced to keep him feeling normal.

Owen has two older brothers – Aiden, who was on the first Owen’s Heroes team in 2020 and helps to coach this WS team and Logan, who is currently on this World Series team.

Since our charity began, we have hosted two charity lacrosse tournaments in South Tampa and raised over $25,000, all of which has been donated to other Diabetic Charities or given directly to local Type 1 Families in need. In 2021, we proudly sponsored several local Type 1 Children to attend a Diabetic Summer Camp in Florida.

This Owen’s Heroes players are honored and excited to take this unique opportunity to raise awareness and be an advocate for all people affected by T1D. They each have a goal of raising $300 for the charity and wear their team logo proud on their team helmets and uniforms.
